Mike Seekings has served on Charleston City Council since 2010, representing portions of West Ashley and Downtown.
He is chairman of the CARTA board of directors and chairs the city's Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory, Traffic and Transportation, and Audit committees. He is also a member of the Charleston Area Convention and Visitor Bureau and Gibbes Museum boards of directors, and is currently interim executive director for the Cooper River Bridge Run.
Mike has served as an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston and the Charleston School of Law. He has been voted Charleston’s Best City Council Member each of the last nine years.
Mike is a magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College and received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Following law school, he clerked for former South Carolina Governor Donald S. Russell on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He now runs his own firm, representing owners in complex construction defect litigation. He is a former member of the South Carolina Bar’s House of Delegates and the executive committee of the Charleston Bar.
A cancer survivor, Mike is a private pilot and one of Charleston’s most avid runners, competing in marathons and road races across the country. He and his wife Michele have been married 15 years.
